Day 1 - International Flight - Los Angeles to Auckland

Shortly after departing Los Angeles you will be served dinner and you will be given breakfast before landing in Auckland.

Day 2 - Day Tour - Auckland Harbour Cruise

Visit a true thing of beauty and cruise the sparkling waters of Waitemata Harbour!

Head out on this one and a half hour tour to see the Devonport Naval Base, travel past the township and North Head, then cruise towards the iconic Rangitoto Island as you pass the historic Bean Rock lighthouse. You'll pass under the Harbour Bridge twice and then off to Westhaven Marina to catch a glance at the viaduct harbour bustling with super yachts! This cruise also gives you a chance to "hop-on, hop-off" and discover nearby islands at your leisure.

The Te Po  Indigenous Experience begins with a mouth-watering buffet at the world famous Pataka Kai Restaurant, Bar and Cafe. With locally sourced cuisine and an authentic Maori twist in each dish, it is guaranteed to be a favorite with your group.

Following this, you will be led to view an exhilarating cultural performance which takes place in the beautifully carved meeting house, Te Aronui a Rua. It will include a Pohiri (Traditional Maori Welcome), Waiata (Song), Moteatea (traditional chant), Poi and Haka.

Afterwards, enter the geothermal valley on a waka (people moving vehicle) and discover one of New Zealand’s most magnificent geothermal wonderlands – featuring dramatic geysers, bubbling mud, and beautiful native bush. For generations Te Puia has welcomed manuhiri (visitors) from all over the world to explore the magic hidden within Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley. Day 5 - Day Tour - Te Puia

Be guided through the greenstone, wood carving and flax weaving schools at the New Zealand Maori Arts & Crafts Institute, Rotowhio Pa, Kiwi Conservation Centre and Te Whajarewarea geotherm valley. You'll visit an ancient Maori valley where geysers, mud pools and boiling waters still play after 40,000 years.

Your helicopter flight takes you north over Hell's Gate Thermal Valley to the Pacific Ocean coastline and the active volcano of White Island. Experience the volcanic fury of the main crater, view sulphur deposits, and the remains of the old sulphur mine.

Day 6 - Self Drive: Wellington to Martinborough

Take a short-drive from Wellington to Martinborough, approximately 1 hour.

Wellington is compact, cultured and full of character. Nestled between the harbour and the hills, the downtown area is ideal for explorations on foot. Enjoy cafes, restaurants, museums and all kinds of shops. Dance, theatre and musical performances are a Wellington specialty. As New Zealand's capital, this city is rich in political history.

The drive to Martinborough whisks you out of the city on a fast moving motorway. You'll wind through the picturesque Hutt Valley before climbing over the Rimutaka Range and descending into the tranquility of the Wairarapa region. After Featherston, which has an interesting locomotive museum, you'll travel east towards Martinborough.

In recent years, Martinborough has become the gourmet capital of the lower North Island. It is home to over 25 boutique vineyards, several fabulous restaurants and a number of upmarket bed and breakfast establishments. From the charming town square, you can walk to most of the local attractions.

Days 6 to 8 - 2 Nights Accommodation in Martinborough

Day 10 - Travel by Ship to Picton

The 92 km journey across Cook Strait between Wellington (North Island) and Picton (South Island) takes only 3 hours and has been described as "one of the most beautiful ferry rides in the world".

Make your way from Wellington to Picton aboard one of 3 amazing ferries and take in the spectacular views along the way. See the South Island's Kaikoura ranges and have the opportunity to spot dolphins and sea birds.

Day 10 - Travel by Train to Christchurch

The Coastal Pacific train journey travels between the delightful port of Picton and Christchurch.

Day 12 - Day Tour - Alpine Safari

See the spectacular mountain vistas of Arthur's Pass National Park and immerse yourself in New Zealand's high country scenery on this journey through the South Island. You'll discover breathtaking mountain landscapes and alpine forests on personal, up close encounters most people never get to witness.

Your day begins with a hotel pick up that takes you to the train station for boarding on the famous TranzAlpine train, rated one of the top six train journeys in the world. This scenic rail experience takes you westward across the rich agricultural belt of the Canterbury Plains, river canyons, tunnels and viaducts to the grand mountains of the Southern Alps and Arthur's Pass.

At Arthur's Pass village you will meet your guide, a friendly and professional tour leader who will give you profound insight into each stop of the day. You will have the opportunity to:

- View the pristine Waimakariri River and its unique braided river system
- Explore the alpine forest, crystal rivers and mountain vistas on short walks through Arthur's Pass National Park

Optional Day Tour (not included) - Milford Sound

This is one of New Zealand's "must see" locations. Milford Sound is the most famous area in the Fiord land National Park. Cruise along the spectacular Milford Sound with steep mountains rising directly from the ocean floor.

Enjoy a spectacular day in the Fiordland World Heritage Park including a cruise of the famous Milford Sound. The road to Milford Sound passes through rural towns and skirts around the shores of picturesque lakes backdropped with magnificent mountains. The road then crosses the 'Divide' to enter Cleddau Valley via the Homer Tunnel. Enjoy some of the most stunning scenery to be found anywhere in the world including towering snow-capped peaks, magnificent rainforests and spectacular waterfalls. On arrival at Milford, board a catamaran for a one and a half hour cruise and view the spectacular waterfalls including the Stirling and Bowen Falls and famous Mitre Peak. An optional scenic flight may be taken for the return journey to Queenstown (arranged through your coach driver on the day of travel). For passengers returning by coach there will be a half hour stop at Te Anau before continuing back to Queenstown.

Day 15 - Day Tour - Doubtful Sound Experience Tour - Full Day (Ends in Te Anau)

When you discover Doubtful Sound you will be struck by its silence, a silence broken only by birdsong, or maybe the rushing of a distant waterfall.

Your Doubtful Sound adventure begins as you cruise the crystal clear waters of Lake Manapouri. Then its over Wilmot Pass, stopping along the way to experience some of Fiordland's densest rainforest and to view the colourful alpine moss gardens.

On reaching Deep Cove, you will board our spacious catamaran for a three hour cruise that takes in the most dramatic scenery of Doubtful Sound. Our skippers provide a detailed commentary and point out highlights. Keep a look out for wildlife as bottlenose dolphins frequently come alongside our vessel, fur seals bask on the rocks around the fiord and rare penguins can at times be observed. Full Day Tour.

Days 15 to 16 - 1 Night Accommodation in TeAnau

Your Te Anau Glowworm Cave adventure begins with a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau to the western side of the lake. Upon arrival there is time to view informative displays at Cavern House before our friendly guides invite you to accompany them underground in small groups. Explore a mysterious underground world of rushing water before drifting in silent darkness beneath the luminous shimmer of thousands of glowworms in the glowworm grotto.

Day 16 - Deluxe Coach to Bluff

Your coach will transfer you from Ta Anau to Stewart Island this morning. Enjoy the beautiful South Island scenery along the way plus an hour long ferry ride to the remotely beautiful Stewart Island!

Days 16 to 18 - 2 Nights Accommodation on Stewart Island

Stewart Island is perfect for a day excursion or an extended stay.

With georgous bays, beautiful sand beaches and densely forested hills, Stewart Island has a combination of landscapes. Stewart Island has been named `The Home of the Kiwi.` It has the highest number of accessible species in New Zealand.In just one day, one can usually access over 30 species. Bonus sitings can be, Bottlenose Dolphin, Fur Seal, Sealion, the occasional Sea Elephant and whales. A visit to Stewart Island isn't complete without a browse through the Rakiura Museum. The museum has a collection of items and photographs of Stewart Island`s history. For example the Maori settlement, muttonbirding, fishing, timber milling, mining, boat building, schools and churches.

An optional activity Helicopter ride is available on request, this is a great way to see the amazing scenery and the best locations the island has to offer (book in advance, or pay as you go subject to availabilty).

A 3 hour quided walk around Ulva Island is a unique experience, learning about native flora and fauna from a Maori and local Stewart Island perspective.

Located in Waka o te Wera or Paterson Inlet, with 11km of coastline, Ulva Island is a scenic gem of unsurpassed beauty; an open preditor free bird sanctuary. Ulva Island is easily accessed by a short watertaxi ride across Paterson Inlet from Golden Bay. Under the luxuriant green mantle of podocarp forest the Ulva Island walks are rich with mosses, ferns, liverworts, filmy ferns and native orchids.

You will encounter rare and endangered bird and plant speciesin this paradise for birds and bird lovers, only 266 hectares with great walking tracks, located in the southern-most island of New Zealand, Stewart Island.
